House in hand and headed out

After a bit of a challenging search, the Lord has provided a rent house for our year in CO.  It’s a beautiful place in Silt, CO, a small town 10 minutes from the River Center where I will be working.  The place is a bit in the country with good neighbors and some outside space (a novelty among rent houses there).  And with well water (no water bill) and solar panels (less expensive electricity bill), we are grateful.  The Lord has been very kind.

So, with house in hand, we are packing up.  We plan to head out this Thursday, April 30, and, taking travel slowly, we plan to arrive in CO next weekend, May 3.

I hope to start at River Center the week we arrive.

I’m amazed at the Lord’s impeccable timing in pulling this together at the last minute so I can start at River Center at the beginning of May, like I hoped.

Thank you for your financial support and prayer.  So glad you’re in this with us!

Packing and packing,

Davy, Laura, and the FunderTots

Relocation goal met!

Woohoo!  The financial goal for relocation has been met!  And we are only 1 pledge of $25/month away from reaching the monthly expenses goal.

So, thank you!  Thank you for stepping out here in faith with us.

Now, we are asking the Lord to provide a rent house…which we have discovered is hard to find within our budget for our size family.  We have one particular house we have applied for that would be a perfect fit — just 4 houses down from the River Center — but we are waiting to see if we get it.  The Lord has us a place picked out…we’re just praying and watching for it.

Oh, and I didn’t need to fly to CO to find a house.  Online pictures, Google Earth, and a kind friend in CO have given us the info we needed.

The kids are pumped about a year in Colorado and are ready to scale a mountain.  Laura and I are praying that this year will be one of learning, discovering what the Lord has for us to do in TN, and rest and recuperation for our family.  (By “rest”, I mean having our own, unpacked and organized home with a regular, albeit busy, schedule of work and training.  And, as far as recuperation goes, the last few years of a screaming baby, leaving our home and living out of boxes, the waiting and not-knowing, and general upheaval of kids’ routines have left us tired.  Especially my gal, Laura.  So, recuperation would be great.)

We plan to finish up jobs here this week and next, then pack the last weekend in April.  Hopefully, if the Lord has provided a rent house by then, we will move the last week in April.

If you are that last monthly pledger we need, you can give here.  And if you still want to give, bring it on — we have some unexpected rental expenses that we are asking the Lord to provide.

Thank you for being with us in this new adventure.

We’re very grateful for the precious group of folks the Lord has gathered around us.

Yearnin’ to learn,

Davy (& Laura & the FunderGang)

In my last email, I said we were looking forward to, among other things, “rest and recuperation” this year in Colorado.  Lest someone get creative and think I mean “vacation and laying around,” I want to explain.

When we say “rest,” we mean having our own, unpacked and organized home with a regular, albeit busy, schedule of work and training.

And, as far as recuperation goes, the last few years of a screaming baby, leaving our home and living out of boxes, the waiting and not-knowing, and general upheaval of kids’ routines have left us tired.  Especially my gal, Laura.  Recuperation would be great.

So, we are praying for rest and recuperation in Colorado.

But if some of YOU want to vacation and come visit, come on!
